How to Add an Email Signature in Apple Mail

Add a professional signature to Apple Mail on Mac and iPhone without broken images or spacing.

Apple Mail accepts rich signatures but behaves differently from Gmail and Outlook. The most reported issue is a blank preview after paste — usually fixed by toggling “Always match my default message font”.

Create signature HTML

Design in the email signature generator and export with Apple Mail steps. Simple table layouts from templates work best.

Apple Mail on Mac

  1. Mail → Settings → Signatures
  2. Select account → + to add signature
  3. Paste from preview (not raw HTML source)
  4. Uncheck “Always match my default message font” if layout breaks
  5. Drag signature to assign default per account

iPhone and iPad

Settings → Mail → Signature. iOS uses plain text by default per account — for rich HTML, set up on Mac first; it syncs via iCloud for the same Apple ID.

Apple Mail tips

  • Retina displays need 2x image assets
  • Avoid very wide tables — 600 px max
  • Test sent mail on iPhone, not only Mac preview
